Florence M. Kuhlman, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Decatur Health Systems, Oberlin, KS.

Florence was born April 26, 1935, the daughter of Peter & Mollie (Maier) Lohman. She married Ervin L. Kuhlman on June 4, 1954 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Athol, KS, to this union they were blessed with four children, Connie, Marsha, Chris and Michelle.

Florence kept herself busy on the farm, she chased the cattle when needed, fixed fence and even ran the tractor. She was a great cook, everyone loved her cinnamon rolls, donuts, long johns and tri-level brownies. She also made the best milk gravy, it was said that you just didn't put it on your potatoes, you put it on "everything". She always had chocolate chip or butterscotch oatmeal cookies for the grandkids, and by coincidence, these were Ervin and her favorites also. Florence's hobbies were embroidering, quilting, cross stitch and fill-in-number puzzles. She was known to be quick witted, generous and was a very loving person.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lawrence Lohman and a son-in-law, Joe Nixon.

She is survived by her husband Ervin of Oberlin; a son Chris Kuhlman and wife Windy of Oberlin; three daughters, Connie Strutt and husband Keven of Hays, Marsha Kuhlman-Nixon of Smith Center, Michelle Reichard of Lansing; a sister, Emma Bates of Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren, Shawn Strutt and friend Alicia Pfeffer of Pierre, SD, Brian Strutt and wife Kimberly of Superior, WY, Justin & Joshua Nixon of Smith Center, Jack Farr, Antonio and Dillon Kuhlman all of Oberlin, Matthew Reichard of Lansing; and seven great grandchildren, Paige Strutt of Superior, WY, Damian, Devon, Jackson and Melissa Strutt, Carson and Rylee Pfeffer all of Pierre, SD.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Athol, KS, with Pastor Dave Kramer officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Athol. Memorials may be given to the Florence Kuhlman Memorial Fund in care of the funeral chapel.
