Oliveta Pearl Mulkey, 99, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, NE.

She was born February 22, 1913 in Reamsville, KS, the daughter of Lawrence and Phoebe (Marple) Flint. On February 22, 1931 she married Raymond L. Mulkey in Smith Center, to this union they were blessed with four children, Joyce, Shirley, Ronald and Linda.

Oliveta and Raymond farmed North of Lebanon from 1946 to 1971. She enjoyed the farm life and love when family showed up for a meal or for the weekend. Oliveta would just go out to the yard, get another chicken to cook, throw in a couple more eggs for noodles and that would be dinner. She loved to have her grandchildren around, one of her fondest memories was granddaughter Karen snitching noodles off the table while they were drying. She also enjoyed the late night family card games with her family and friends. Oliveta had a passion for entertaining people and playing with The Band. She and the band would entertain rest homes, meal sites and also played for dances in Red Cloud, NE for several years. She has out lived all her band members, she was the last one.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on September 14, 2000, her daughter Shirley Ann on August 21, 1992, two brothers, Huck and Oren Flint and a grandson Christopher.

She is survived by a son, Ronald Mulkey of Eugene, OR; two daughters, Joyce Strong and husband Buck of Casa Grande, AZ, Linda Mosier and husband John of WaKeeney; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012 at the All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, with Pastor Linda Kemp officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 8:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center. Memorials may be given in her name in care of the funeral chapel.
